RECIST 1.1 target-lesion response
Also called RECIST, RECIST 1.1, tumour response criteria
Classifies target-lesion response (CR, PR, SD, PD) from the sum of diameters at baseline, nadir and now, plus new lesions.

Formula and scoring
CR: disappearance of all target lesions; nodes <10 mm short axis. PR: ≥30% decrease in sum from BASELINE. PD: ≥20% increase from the NADIR (smallest sum on study, including baseline) AND absolute increase ≥5 mm, or any new lesion. SD: neither.
Exam and ward pearls
- PR is measured against baseline; PD against the nadir — the commonest exam trap.
- RECIST 1.1: maximum 5 target lesions (2 per organ); nodes are measurable at ≥15 mm short axis and are measured by short axis.
When not to rely on it
- Not for immunotherapy pseudo-progression (use iRECIST), lymphoma (Lugano), or mesothelioma/GIST/HCC-specific criteria (mRECIST, Choi).
